For upgrading my 32-bit Office 2007 to a 64-bit Office 2010 on my Windows 7/64 machine you tell:
The system running on 32 bit Office 2007 cannot be upgraded to 64-bit Office 2010. However, you don’t need to remove the hardware compatible with Office 2007 as it will be compatible with Office 2010 also.
When I still like to use the 64-bit Office 2010 – what to do? Remove my old 32-bit Office 2007 and lose all old information?
Ideally, it should upgrade. I do not think of any reason if it is not. Can you please provide us with error messages you are getting while upgrading.
We might be able to help you better if we have those.

It certainly isn’t a resource issue. Try the following and let us know if it worked for you:
1) Copy the entire content of the disk on to the hard drive and then try to install.
2) Try to install in a clean boot state

Tried to install Microsoft 2010. During installation it came up with an error. Therefore the programme was omly partially installed. I tried to remove the programme but the system won’t let me it comes up with an error message to send to Microsoft. Tried a few times but nothing happens. How do I uninstall the thing ?
Microsoft provides an alternative method to remove Office. You may use the fixit tool as mentioned in the link below:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
If this does not work, you will have to manually remove it which involves manual deletion of the associated files and folder and removing associated entries from windows registry.
Let us know if you need any further help on this.
I am having all the same problems. Brand new machines with 64 bit and 32 bit system capability. Office Professional Plus fails. On one machine it asks me to remove all other office products – the only one of which is click n start. I remove it and the problem still exists. On the other machine there is no office program. Program won’t install from the download.
Do you see how many questions there are here? Can you please provide some real help?

I currently have Windows Vista Home Premium. I want upgrade my My Windows 2003 Office Professional to Windows 2010 Office Professional and I don’t want to lose my email & contact information etc.. I also want to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium and I also want to retain my documents and Bookmarks etc. How do I accomplish the above?
Thanks,
jaqataq
You’ll need to follow these steps in this order:
- Backup your documents(as a precaution): Go to C:Users(considering that C drive is the primary partition), right click on the folder corresponding to your user account, click copy and paste it to an external hard drive.
- Start the Windows 7 installation and choose the ‘Upgrade’ option when you get to the page to choose the type of installation. It will run the ‘upgrade advisor’ and produce a ‘compatibility report’.
- If the report lists some incompatible programs, you might need to uninstall them. You will also need to take care of incompatible hardware components.
- Once Windows 7 is completely installed, start the installation of Office Professional 2010.
