    Hi,
I’ve had my microsoft publisher 2010 for almost a year now and was working fine. I use it a lot for my handcrafted guest book business. I need the graphics and designs to create different personalised details.
In the last 6 months I have been struggling to use it.
I have templates which I use regular but it takes forever to change a font, add a colour, centralize wording – basically anything. It always keeps coming up with ‘windows cannot complete this operation’.
    I use windows vista.
I have tried deleting printers etc and setting one as default etc…have tried freeing up computer memory etc… nothing works.
Publisher cost me $200.00 to purchase and it’s driving me mad!
Please can you help in anyway.
    Thank you in advance
    Best regards
    Andrea

This issue seems to be caused either due to corruption or incompatible programs as it was working fine until 6 months ago. Besides, 6 months is too long a period to be able to perform a System Restore.

Here are a few things you can try:

      1. Uninstall programs you do not use anymore especially those that were installed right before the problem started.
      2. Repair the program by right clicking it in ‘Add or remove programs’/’Programs and Features’ and choosing ‘Repair’. If you have the disc or the setup file for it, perform a reinstallation.
      3. If the problem persists, perform ‘Clean Boot’ troubleshooting.
      a) Type ‘msconfig’ in start-search and hit enter.
      b) On the System Configuration window, click on the startup tab.
      c) Click on ‘disable all’ at the bottom right.
      d) Now click on the services tab on the top.
      e) Ensure that you have a check mark in the box “Hide All Microsoft Services”.
      f) Click on ‘disable all’ at the bottom right.
      g) Save changes and restart the computer in the normal mode.
      h) If the issue is resolved, you will need to enable the programs you disabled (one lot at a time) and restart each time to figure out which one was causing the problem.

Note: you can refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 for the strategy you need to follow.
Once you find out the program, you can either uninstall it or contact its manufacturer and get an updated version if available.

      Hope it helped.
