1. To convert time to seconds in Microsoft Excel by using the ‘Simple Multiplication’ method, select the cell and enter the time you want to change into seconds.
2. Select the cell where you want to display the result and type ‘=reference to the cell containing the time * 86400’.
3. Press ‘Enter’ to get the result. The result may be displayed as a time, instead of decimal.
4. To change it into the ‘General’ format, right click on the cell and select ‘Format Cells’.
5. Click ‘General’ from the ‘Category’ list and then click on ‘OK’.
6. To convert time to seconds in Microsoft Excel by using the ‘Excel Time Functions’ method, select the cell and enter the time you want to change into seconds.
7. Select the cell where you want to display the result and type ‘=HOUR(reference to the cell containing the time)*3600+ MINUTE(reference to the cell containing the time)*60+ SECOND(reference to the cell containing the time)’.
8. Press ‘Enter’ to get the result. The result may be displayed as a time, instead of decimal.
9. Change the time format into the ‘General’ format again.
