Troubleshoot Microsoft® Office Access 2010

Get to know about troubleshooting common problems with Microsoft Access 2010.
Microsoft has announced their product Microsoft Office 2010 for their business customers. The code name of Microsoft Office 2010 is Office 14. It is the successor to the Microsoft Office 2007. This version includes many improved features like extended file compatibility, refined user experience, updated user interface. Though there are many updated features in this version, there are also difficulties or troubles.
The common problems that come when you start or use Microsoft Office Access 2010 Beta and the possible solution to the problems are discussed in the following points.
- An error occurred during client rendering
- A database’s user-defined functions if not displayed
- If Visual Basic Editor Settings are disabled
An error occurred during client rendering
If you change a field name in a Microsoft Access 2010 published database; then you may get an error message while viewing a report linked to that database. This error occurs due to the reason that the field references are not updated in the server copy. To solve this problem, you should republish the report file, which is linked to the server.
A database’s user-defined functions if not displayed
If you open a Microsoft Access 2010 database and then open the expression builder; then you will see that in the function node, VBA is not listed there. This will happen if the database is opened in disabled mode. This happens because the arguments cannot be enumerated by the VBA. In disabled mode the VBA cannot compile those modules. To overcome this trouble you have to open the database in Enable mode.
If Visual Basic Editor Settings are disabled
In an earlier version, some settings were enabled for the VBA, but in Microsoft Office 2010 these settings are disabled. This is happened due to the upgrade of the versions from the earlier one to the version 7.0. Here, the registry entries of the Microsoft Office 2010 located under a different sybkey: “HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoft VBA7.0Common”, while in the earlier versions the sybkey located in “HKEY_ CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftVBA6.0Common”. To solve this problem you can go to the website of Microsoft, or you can fix it manually. To fix it manually, start the application of Microsoft Office 2010. Then click Visual Basic on the Database tools tab (for other applications Developer tabs). Then click options on the tools menu, select an option and click OK. You can also solve this problem through the Run command of the Start menu.
