Do More With Track Changes Feature in Microsoft® Word 2010

Track Changes is an important element incorporated in most of the versions of Microsoft Word. Continuing with the last article in which we provided an overview of the Track Changes feature in Microsoft Word 2010, we will today focus on how one can review, accept, reject, or hide tracked changes in your Microsoft Word document.
Microsoft Word 2010 provides you the flexibility to easily track the changes made in a document through various options. Whether it is insertion, deletion, comment, movement or change in formatting, you can easily overview all the changes made in the document.
Here, we will talk about the different options one-by-one:
Review tracked changes in Microsoft Word 2010 in a summarized form:
Through the Reviewing Pane option, you can get the summary of changes made in Microsoft Word document. To do so, follow the given steps-
• Click on the ‘Review’ tab on the menu bar.
• In the Tracking option, click on ‘Reviewing Pane’ to get the summary of all the changes at the left side of your screen.
• If you want to see the summary of tracked changes at the bottom of your screen, click on the arrow placed adjacent to the ‘Reviewing Pane’ button. Then, click on ‘Reviewing Pane Horizontal’.
Review each tracked change one-by-one:
With Microsoft Word 2010, you can review changes made in the document in a sequence.
• In the Changes section, available next to the Tracking section, click on ‘Next’ or ‘Previous’ to navigate between the tracked changes.
• You can accept or reject the changes by using the ‘Accept’ or ‘Reject’ buttons accordingly.
• If there is a comment in the document and you need to delete it, then click on the ‘Delete’ option available in Comments section of the Review tab.
Accept or Reject all the tracked changes in one go:
If you want to accept or reject all the changes made by you or another person in Microsoft Word document, then follow the given steps:
• In the Changes section, click on the arrow available below the ‘Accept’ option.
• Then, click on ‘Accept All Changes in Document’ to complete the process.
Similarly, to reject all the changes, first click on the arrow available below the ‘Reject’ button and then select ‘Reject All Changes in Document’.
Review the tracked changes by change type:
You can easily review the tracked changes in a document according to the type of change. Follow the given procedure to do so-
• In the Tracking section of the ‘Review’ tab, click on the arrow placed next to ‘Show Markup’.
• You will find a list of changes made in the document, such as Comments, Ink, Insertion and Deletion, and more.
• Uncheck all checkboxes next to the type of changes, except the ones that you want to review.
Review the changes made by a specific person:
To review the changes made by a specific reviewer in a Microsoft Word document, follow the given procedure-
• In the Tracking section of the ‘Review’ tab, click on the arrow placed next to ‘Show Markup’.
• Go to Reviewers option and uncheck all the checkboxes next to the reviewers’ names, except the ones that you want to review.
Then, you can easily accept or reject the changes as mentioned above.
