The right way to convert Microsoft® Office 2010 trial version to full retail version

If you are using a trial version of Microsoft Office 2010, you need to convert it to its full perpetual license version for enjoying the entire range of features that it has on offer. Step 1: Check whether the trial version that you are using is convertible, as not all the versions of Microsoft Office 2010 are convertible. If it is convertible, you are required to buy a perpetual license product key. If your version is not convertible, remove it and install the full perpetual license version.
Step 2: Buy a full, licensed copy of the software from the Microsoft website to use the full version of the suite.

Method 1: Pre-activation method for cases where you are yet to activate the trial version of Microsoft Office 2010.
Method 2: Use the post-activation method if the trial version is already active.
Method 3: The Maintenance mode method is to be used only when you have a Microsoft Office 2010 Trial CD.
Pre-activation method
This method allows you to use the Trial Activation Wizard dialog box for converting to the full retail perpetual version of Microsoft Office 2010. At the start, you must activate the trial version. You will be prompted to activate the trial version, but you must instead select ‘I do not want to activate my copy’ and then click ‘I want to convert to the full version now’. Again click ‘Next’, and then follow the steps in Step 4.
Post-activation method
With the Activation Wizard expiration reminders, you can convert to the full retail perpetual license version. To use this method, first activate the trial version of Microsoft Office 2010. When the Activation Wizard expiration reminder appears, press the ‘Click’ button to start the transition process to the full licensed version. Then, proceed to Step 4.
The Maintenance mode method
You can use this method only if you have the trial CD of Microsoft Office 2010. To move to the full retail perpetual license version, first insert the CD in the CD or DVD drive. The CD Explorer windows will appear now where you will find the ‘Set-up’ option. Once you click ‘Set-up’, the Set-up Program of the trial version of Microsoft Office 2010 will initiate. Select the ‘Convert License Type’ option and then ‘Next’.
Step 4: Product Key Activation
Once you have converted to the full perpetual license version of Microsoft Office 2010, finally activate the product key. To activate the product key follow these steps:
- Click the ‘Enter Product Key’ button in the Trial Activation Wizard dialog box.
- In the boxes that appear, carefully enter the 25-character product key.
- Select ‘Continue’.
- Click the ‘I accept the terms in the License Agreement’ check box and finally click ‘Install’.
You will now be able to use the full retail perpetual version of Microsoft Office 2010.
