“No default mail client” issues
When installing Microsoft® Office 2010 on the system, the system displays an error “no default mail client”. Neither Outlook® 2010 or any other e-mail client is detected on the system by the platform. The option of choosing Outlook® does not turn up to make it a default e-mail client and thus it becomes difficult for users to choose on the default mail client.
Registry fix of “no default mail client” issues
There are two different ways to resolve the issue by making changes to the registry. To do that click on start, run and type in ‘regedit’. The registry window will appear. Take a backup of all the registry files and to do that click on file and export, to the root of the computer. After finishing with the export of registry files which ensures that under no condition the registry files will be lost, move on to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWAREClientsMailMicrosoft Outlook” for 32-bit operating system. For 64-bit operating system the path will be “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE Wow6432NodeClientsMailMicrosoft Outlook”. Search the path and delete the file. After the deletion, open control panel window, programs and features followed by Microsoft® Office 2010 click on change button. Click on repair and the repair wizard will continue and the problem will be resolved after the process is completed.
Even after following the registry fix the issue does not get resolved and the error “no default mail client” comes in then click on start, control panel, set program access defaults and start default programs. The window will ask to set default e-mail client, set it to be Outlook® 2010.Even after following the step if the windows platform does not set it to be the default e-mail client. Follow the path “C:Program FilesCommon FilesSystemMSMAPI 1033”, delete the file “MSMAPI32.DLL.” and restart Outlook® 2010. The window will prompt for setting Outlook® as the default client after it is opened again. It should fix the issue and the Outlook® 2010 must become the default client.
