Note down the error code. When you know the error code, it becomes easy to troubleshoot. Knowing an error code also means that you can easily find out the description of the error.
Some common error codes
Here are a few error codes that you might face when you are trying to install Microsoft Office on your computer:
CommandFailed – 30008: This error means that one or more than one of the required components failed to complete successfully. For more information, you can view the setup log file.
FileNotFound - 30020: This means the file could not be found.
OutOfDiskSpace - 30062: You may face this error if there is not enough space on the location in your computer, where you are installing a copy of Microsoft Office. If you can manage to create some space by deleting unwanted data from your computer, you can proceed with the installation. Alternatively, you can also choose another location in your computer that has the required free space.
UnexpectedError – 30088: An unexpected error has occurred (and there’s nothing you can do about it).
ExternalCommandFailed – 30091: You would face this error if one or more than one third-party programs has failed to complete successfully.
SPDatabaseOverSize - 30092: If the existing installation of Microsoft Office has more than 4GB of data, you would face this error; turnaround for this error? You can reduce the size of the database of the existing installation to less than 4GB for the upgrade to happen. Alternatively, you can migrate the current installation on your computer to SharePoint and then try starting the installation / upgrade process again.
