You don’t have to open the browser and type in Gmail.com and then login to access your mails anymore! Okay, here is how you can add your Gmail account on Microsoft Outlook 2010.
Enable IMAP
First, you have to enable IMAP on your Gmail account. Login to your Gmail account and click settings. Under account settings you would find the option ‘Forwarding and POP/IMAP’. Once you click that option, several options appear on your screen. Then at the ‘IMAP access’ part of the page, you have to check the option to enable IMAP. Now pat yourself on the back because the first part of this operation is complete.
Add accounts
Now comes the second part where you have to add an account on Microsoft Outlook 2010. Click file on Outlook 2010 and then select the option ‘Account Settings’ which will give you a small dropdown with other options. Select ‘Account Settings’. Once you select that, a new window opens on your screen. On that window, select the tab ‘E-mail’ and select ‘New’ which will open another window where you need to enter your details. You need to give in details like name, E-mail address, and password for Outlook 2010 to login and fetch your email from Gmail server. You can now jump with joy.
So that is how you configure your Gmail account on your Microsoft Outlook 2010. Now you have an inbox where you’d be able to see emails from multiple accounts instead of logging on to several platforms to access them.
